Perhaps most associated with the “M” in the time-honored GSM blends of the Southern Rhone, Mourvedre has recently begun to emerge from the shadow cast by the better known “G” and “S”. While Mourvedre obviously plays well in a blend, it truly shines when allowed to take center stage. A feral shell of game meat, earth, and leather encloses a remarkably elegant core of dried cranberry and blueberry; all built upon a silky, medium-bodied foundation. Repeated sniffs and whiffs will be like raiding your spice cabinet with subtle notes of toasted fennel, coriander, pepper, and nutmeg. Enjoy!
